A New- concept Botanical Garden to Be Establish in Sanmen,Zhejiang

China is stepping up its efforts in strengthening anti-pollution laws. The Environmental Protection Law, which took effect on Jan 1, has increased the responsibility of local governments in dealing with environmental problems and made polluters liable to pay unlimited daily fines for violations.

As one of the Eastern Coastal Developed Regions of China, Zhejiang Province is trying to figure out a balance between the development of economy and the natural environment. Experts from Institute of subtropical forestry, Chinese academy of agricultural sciences and leaders from Sanmen, Zhejiang came to XTBG on 27th April to seek out the effective experiences on how to build a new-style botanical garden.

According to Miao Shitian, Director of the Forestry Bureau of Sanmen, this new concept botanical garden is attempting to break the traditional bounds of land, by then the whole county will become a big botanical garden and people will view its beauty only in front of their doors.

Prof. Chen Jin gave positive comment on the concept of the garden. What makes a botanical garden different from a park is that it’s non-profit and professional. He advised it to accomplish a reasonable overall plan as well as to distinct its ownership before construction.
